Silence is a tricky thing to comprehend when you truly think of it. Silence really is not complete silence but rather noisy. I think that is why we try our hardest to avoid it. It reveals the noises that we ignore and the thoughts we push down. These boil up the insecurities we may wish to never expose. Silence has a way of showing us if we feel unconditionally loved or not. When we pause and think and reflect, the believer cannot help but to be in awe.
Uncovering the Layers of Inner Noise
They understand how God has allowed our system to work in sync and together just for the next breath or heartbeat. The list goes on and on, and we still don’t know how to solve the most complex things in the human body. Our Designer still holds the patent and is the maker and healer. How amazing is our Creator God because silence uncovers Him. We may be afraid to give our minds and time to silence because we know it is a dangerous and vulnerable position. Silence, in a sense, is humility and humbling ourselves enough to see we are not in control. We can rest in our silence and place the heavy yoke on Christ.
Embracing Vulnerability in Silence
To pull away from this world of chaos at times is healthy. Not only is it healthy, but it is biblical because silence relies on the Father to solve our problems. We cannot, I repeat, cannot hear the Spirit of God, the Helper, in loudness and chaos. For Jesus himself did not just do something as an example for us not to follow, but he is the Son of God, leading not only by example but showing us this was his lifestyle. Jesus would often withdraw to places and pray, seeking solitude to commune with God. This lifestyle shows the importance of quiet reflection and communication with our Father, as clearly shown in Luke 5:16.
Finding Solace and Gratitude in Silence
Without silence, God would have never spoken to me or allowed me to hear His voice. We must be quiet and understand that the voice of God is clear and loudly calling to us in silence. He has directly spoken to me through a verse, a phone call to make, a person to give to in need without knowing they needed something. He has directed me to say certain words to people and places to go. It brings me to tears writing this because I know without silence, I cannot hear. I welcome it now in the chaos of this world. It reminds me that I don’t have to try to solve the world’s problems, and with a young child and self-inflicted schedules, it feels unbearable if I don’t give it to Him. The heart of your true self comes out in silence. I love now that my silence turns straight to gratitude. Nothing matters but gratitude towards our Father, and His praise is the silence. He is the rest I seek, to just be with Him in silence.
